Ayesha is almost exclusively a defensive character meant to sponge many hits from hard hitting enemies while sustaining her own HP in the process.
She can contribute a lot of things to her teams defensively, providing unparalleled levels of safety and protection against all sort of attacks and enemy effects, but has no offensive additions in her kit whatsoever. With this in mind, most of her top memoria alternatives also lean on the defense, exalting her already strong protective abilities even higher.
Her top memoria is Snuggling With Flowers, an extremely underused memoria that never really found itself a purpose, until now. Offering Ayesha extremely high defensive stats, especially against physical attacks, and a powerful effect increasing the potency of all her heals, including those from gear pieces such as Herbal Shirt. This adds incredible resilience to her kit and helps keep her main passive active much more easily.
Also defensively, the Dress-Up Outing! memoria will boost the potency of all her buffs given both to allies and to herself, including damage reduction and max HP. It also has respectable defensive stats which is great. This memoria is better used to boost team’s survivability over her own, but at low ranks this effect will feel a bit insignificant.
A 3rd alternative is Welcome to the Party!, but this time for its high Speed. Ayesha is an extremely slow character, and a fast memoria could help her act more often, or before certain allies or enemies, with varied results. The effect of this memoria is great to assist other allies, but it’s a secondary aspect of it on Ayesha. It’s better used if she has Enhanced Damage Buff [A] traits equipped, of course.
All this of course doesn’t prevent her from trying a more offensive approach, with memorias like Budding Girl without a Name and Our Masterpiece. Both of these can offer a significant boost to skill damage of all allies, but will often require the use of the Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait too to make them truly shine, a trait Ayesha does not benefit from in the slightest.
Finally, for item gauge shenanigans, Ayesha prefers Nothing to Fear with Friends. Her low Speed really hinders her ability to use Feathers Fly on a Festive Day effectively, so an instant gain from the former is much more desirable on her.
Serene Envoy’s Blade
While equipped to a Defender, reduces damage received from single-target attacks by 5 ~ 7%.
Heavy mitigation that is active at all times but only works against single-target attacks. This is often enough considering AoE damage is balanced around non-defenders, so these attacks do minor damage to them. Solid, cheap and accessible item that can be shared among all Defenders.
Fortune’s Light
Reduces damage received by 5 ~ 6% when own HP is at 70% or higher.
A more effective option against all type of attacks, including AoEs. It has an HP limit to be effective, which Ayesha can unintentionally deactivate sometimes after using her own Max HP buff because it doesn’t immediately restore the granted amount.
Stylish Broom
Boosts potency of buff effects given by 6 ~ 8%.
The only offensive alternative in her list of weapons, slightly improving the potency of all her damage reduction and Max HP buffs, and any memoria effect she has equipped. This is ok to use against in easier fights, but the minor gain is rarely worth using in more modern, harder content.
Herbal Shirt
When hit by an attack, restores 2 ~ 3% of max HP.
Absurdly strong piece of armor oriented to infinitely sustain hits. With a high base HP stat and the ability to permanently reduce the damage she takes every time she receives healing. This heal will also be affected by recovery traits such as Recovery Boost [D], making it much stronger, and will be active from the start of the fight, not needing any action and not having any duration.
Crystal Ice Armor
While equipped to a character with Ice affinity, reduces damage received by 2 ~ 3%. While equipped to a Defender with Ice affinity, reduces damage received by an additional 3%.
Very strong damage mitigation oriented armor, providing a large damage reduction against all attacks, with no special conditions. Better used when equipped with at least Resonance Bell as an extra form of self sustain to compensate for the loss of Herbal Shirt. Not recommended to use this armor without the Bell.
Skuller Coat
Boosts potency of buff effects given by 6 ~ 8%.
This piece is oriented to increase the power of her offensive buffs but it also marginally increases the damage mitigation from her passive. It’s the best and only offensive piece she can use and it’s her best in slot if she is strong enough to survive without the need for other alternatives. The extra gains are quite small, however, so I personally would not trade the safety provided by other armor pieces for this in most scenarios.
Resonance Bell
While equipped to a character with Ice affinity, when hit by an attack, recovers own HP by 4 ~ 5% of own max HP.
This works as an extra, more potent layer of Herbal Shirt, without conditions or duration. It helps Ayesha to self sustain her full HP status when hit by weaker attacks, preserving her passive skill active more often. This healing is affected by Recovery Boost type traits as well.
The only downside of this accessory is that it has 0 Speed, which can be a heavy deterrent in some setups considering Ayesha is already very very slow.
Phantom Ice Ring
While equipped to a character with Ice affinity, reduces damage received by 4 ~ 5%.
Quite strong mitigation oriented item, with no special conditions, active at all times. It’s a solid entry level item and well into the end game too for pure damage reduction, and provides a decently high Speed stat.
Cheap and accessible early in the game.
Angel Ribbon
Reduces damage received by 5 ~ 6% when own HP is at 70% or higher.
Extremely solid accessory that matches greatly with her self sustaining kit. This is one of the earliest items you can unlock in the game. It’s extremely cheap and serviceable too. Highly recommended for beginners.
Main Traits
- Recovery Boost [D] is her most important trait, massively boosting the potency of her heals on herself. This alone can seriously boost her self sustain and improve the uptime of her passive even against very hard hitting enemies.
Highly recommended to have as many of these as possible. All 6 is possible if you have Lydie: Witch of Rose.
Situational Traits
- Her second trait slot is open for a lot options. Let’s check them out:
- All Recovery Boost will improve Ayesha’s team healing with her Skill 2 effect. It will not affect self healing done by gear pieces. This trait is better to assist her teams instead of herself alone.
- Single Recovery Boost and Recovery Boost are both a direct downgrade to Recovery Boost [D]. They do exactly the same, but with reduced potency total. The First will improve only Ayesha’s self healing with gear pieces, while the latter will affect everything. It is acceptable to get these.
- For extra mitigation, the Magic Resistance Up [Full] and Physical Resistance Up [Full] traits are insanely strong when matched with her own passive skill. She can sustain these conditions with relative ease but if she lacks too much healing and she ever drops below full HP, it can be a little hard to go back to full by herself so do not overdo it.
- Enhanced Damage Buff [A] will only upgrade the effects of certain offensive related memorias. Normally this is not needed for Ayesha to hold and play around so personally I would advice against this, but the possibility is there if you want to try it.
- Ayesha is a purely defensive character. She contributes no offensive boosts to her team, but it has the strongest personal and team-wide mitigation tools in the roster. She can attract single single target attacks on herself, intercept counterattacks and aimed attacks directed at allies, increase allies maximum HP, reduce allies damage received by AoE attacks and even completely negate the damage dealt by them. She is a highly proactive character, aimed to prevent the damage from happening in the first place.
- With the 2nd highest HP pool in the game, and the highest with her own max HP buff into account, HP% based sources of healing are extremely strong on her.
- Her Burst Skill will cleanse all status effects (not to confuse with negative effects) from all allies and herself. The only other character with this utility is Totori: Daughter of a Powerful Lady, who only can do it with a single target skill.
- Although only for herself, she can also cleanse negative effects with her Skill 1, giving her the possibility of ridding herself from annoying effects like Heal Block that could hinder her self sustain.
- With her passive active she can absorb almost any attack, even in disadvantageous situations like non-Ice affinity towers where she will have severe stat penalties.
- She performs extremely well in Dungeons when using items like Resonance Bell, absorbing a lot of punishment while staying healthy with no help from her teammates.
- The max HP buff provided by her Skill 2 will trigger at the end of the skill, and does not heal the HP gained. This leaves Ayesha in a non-full HP state, deactivating her powerful passive effect. Additionally, items that recover HP after using a skill, such as Flourish Heart, trigger their effects BEFORE the max HP buff enters in place, and do not help dealing with this issue. There is currently no way to cast this skill the first time and preserve a full HP without help from teammates or her own follow up turns.
- While the tooltip in-game indicates that her Protection effect lasts for a set number of turns, this is not true. It lasts a set number of interceptions instead. Ayesha’s turns will not consume the duration, and this effect will instantly run out after intercepting 3 consecutive attacks, regardless of turns taken.
- All her passives and skills combined with gear and trait effects can reach a 100% damage reduction total, effectively nullifying all damage from one or more attacks. This is mostly unnecessary and just for fun.
- With the right itemization, she is effectively immortal.
- Despite all her insane defensive abilities, there is hardly any content in the game that requires it or can challenge it.
