The Promise of a Return memoria is her strongest memoria. With the highest M.Atk stat and up to a ridiculous 100% critical damage, you won’t need anything else but keep in mind this memoria will drastically lower her Speed stat, making her even slower than she normally is. This is kind of a hindrance in regular content but in Roman’s Tournament is a positive thing, letting her supporters act more and stack more effects in between her powerful Bursts.
An alternative to deal with this issue for regular content is Dressed for Success, with slightly lower M.Atk and critical damage, but higher Speed. Any of these memorias, at a high enough rank (usually rank 4+) will enable Izana to use the Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait in her gear, outperforming normal Critical Damage traits and also enhancing the effects from other gear pieces, and the rate at which she stacks her own critical damage buffs from 2 attacks/kills to just 1.

Great options among the newest additions, Under the Summer Sky, with You is a traditional and unconditional skill damage based memoria for Bolt affinity, while Endless Discoveries, remains relevant working well with any magic attacker.
If a more budget alternative is what you need, you can’t go wrong with A Time Just for Two, a basic memoria obtainable in the regular FES pool from the start of the game with the same buff than previous two memorias but with the condition of being over 70% of Izana’s Max HP.
All these memorias are strong and highly functional, but will require to build up to 2x Critical Damage Up traits on her gear to compensate later on in the mid game.

For starters or players with no access to anything of the above, always prioritize equipping a 31.25% M.Atk memoria regardless of its effect. If you still don’t have any of these, the SR rarity Following in Your Footsteps memoria is a great starting option. with moderately high M.Atk and a small boost to magic skill damage.

Midsummer Fish Sword

While equipped to an Attacker with Bolt affinity, boosts potency of buff effects received by 16 ~ 23%.

Undisputed best weapon to equip, providing high base M.Atk stat and a ridiculous effect boosting every single buff she receives, including her own gear and those provided by allies. This will completely outclass any other weapon effect by a large margin.

Tome of Answers: Bolt

While equipped to an Attacker with Bolt affinity, boosts critical damage by 20 ~ 28%.

Very strong weapon, originally the best in slot but now outclassed by Midsummer Fish Sword. It’s her strongest alternative if you don’t have access to the fish, offering a big boost to M.Atk and critical damage to complement her kit.

Water God’s Scythe

While equipped to an Attacker with Bolt affinity, boosts skill damage by 14%. Boosts all Family & Friends allies’ M. ATK by 5%.

Event exclusive UR weapon, with fixed effects and traits. This is a very strong weapon but not better than the ones above. It’s fantastic for beginners, if you managed to get it while the event was up. It’s not obtainable outside of it.

Elemental Breath – Bolt

While equipped to an Attacker with Bolt affinity, boosts skill damage by 9 ~ 12%.

This is a basic but strong weapon unlocked fairly early in the game. It has no conditions other than being a Bolt Attacker, therefore it can be shared later on with similar characters. The effect is moderate and the weapon has a standard 20 ~ 45 M.Atk, so it’s really just an entry level piece that holds well into middle stages of the game and works perfect to clear Bolt Tower. It also affects all her skills, which is ideal budget-wise compared to Tonnelash or Wooden Staff which both have conditions on them despite being stronger.

Silver Thread Armor

Boosts potency of buff effects received by 9 ~ 12%.

Bolt affinity still doesn’t have an affinity exclusive version of this armor so this is still the better choice. It’s hard to craft because it’s an Extra category recipe, unfortunately. Aside from that, it’s still stronger than anything else she can equip, which is a testament to the power of increases to buffs received.

Adventurer’s Garb

While equipped to an Attacker with Bolt affinity, boosts critical damage by 17 ~ 24%.

Massive boost to critical damage, active at all times. It’s also enhanced by any Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait she could have equipped. It’s a great item but outclassed by Silver Thread Armor when in presence of many buffs and battle items.

Light Vest

While equipped to an Attacker or Breaker, boosts M. ATK by 6 ~ 8%.

Stat boosts are much stronger than skill damage or critical damage boosts, but they have fallen slightly out of favor because of buff potency pieces. This is still a solid piece of gear and it’s easy to unlock and craft, but use it as a last alternative only.

Origin Necklace: Bolt

While equipped to an Attacker with Bolt affinity, boosts burst skill damage by 17 ~ 25%.

Massive boost to her burst skill damage, this is the strongest and safest choice for her main source of damage alone, especially in Roman’s Tournament. For general content, however, you’d prefer using something else from the options below.

Memoria Bracelet

While equipped to a character with Bolt affinity, boosts critical damage by 14 ~ 20%.

For general content, this is your call. Strong boost affecting all her skills and high speed. It’s strong enough to help her sweep enemy waves with Skill 2, or kill bosses with her Burst.

Celestial Talisman

While equipped to an Attacker with Bolt affinity, after attacking, boosts target’s magic attack damage received by 6 ~ 8% for 2 attacks.

High speed alternative with a somewhat relevant effect. This is the only +12 Speed item in her arsenal that can still provide something of value, this time in the form of a debuff that increases damage taken by magic attacks. This debuff is affected by Enhanced P./M. Resistance Down trait, but we won’t be building this trait.

Main Traits

  • Skill Power Up is what we will consider as her only main trait. Everything else in the secondary slots of her gear pieces will be situationally better or worse, depending on the situation and her memoria.
  • Ideally you should get at at least 4 of these traits across her 6 trait slots, for a total of 100% Skill Power. Going above this will reduce the effective value of the trait, but going below will be a much more drastic drop in damage. In general, you almost never want less than 100%.

Situational Traits

  • Her second trait slot can include additional Skill Power Up traits or some of the next ones:
  • Critical Damage Up is the most basic and most functional secondary trait to build. It works great in any conditions and doesn’t require much min maxing or thoughts. You only want a maximum of 2x of these for general content.
  • The Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait is ONLY good if you have access to a high ranked critical damage memoria like Promise of a Return or Dressed for Success. 2x of this trait will double the critical damage given by this memoria and the skill damage buffs given by her own kit and any similar piece of gear she has. If you don’t have this memoria or not at a high enough rank, this trait is not worth using. Additionally, 2x of these traits will let her fully stack the critical damage both from her Skill 2 and Passive in just one action instead of two!
At maximum performance and with perfect gear and memoria, only 1x of this trait is optimal. More than that will result in a damage loss.
  • The Burst Skill Power Up trait is a stronger version of Skill Power Up that only affects her Burst Skill. There are situations where you only want to use this skill for maximum damage, but they require a lot of setup. You can currently combine this trait with Enhanced Damage Buff [A] for maximum burst output, but always remember this combination will tank the damage of her other skills. In general, this combo is only desirable in Roman’s Tournament.
You can also combine regular Skill Power Up with Burst Skill Power Up in detriment of critical damage, which is less desirable but still very strong.
  • Bolt Damage Boost and Magic Damage Boost are ok traits to have early and mid game, but they are much weaker compared to anything above so do not over invest in these and simply use them as stepping stones to reach better traits later on.
  • A fan favorite for many people and for many reasons, Izana is one of if not the most beginner friendly character in the game, packing way above average offensive potential for both AoE and Single Target attacks.
  • All she really needs to start sweeping waves of enemies with her Skill 2 is some form of critical rate, which characters like Rorona: Falling Snow, or Wilbell: Witch in the Dark can do, but battle item effects work too.
  • Unlike other skills in the game, Izana’s Burst Skill is actually a guaranteed critical hit and not a buff. It will not be impaired by reductions to buff potencies.
  • For some reason her Burst skill has an abnormally high stun potency too, which can help setup enemy break states.
  • Due to the high amount of critical damage and skill damage buffs normally present in Izana’s teams, battle items like Ether Ink, Dark Water and Blitz Core with the Bolt Curse trait will often result in a higher total damage compared to adding extra buffs of the same type with buffing items instead.
  • The Daze status effect completely interrupts the next action of the afflicted enemy. Unlike Paralysis, if successfully applied on an enemy, this effect cannot fail, but it’s still subjected to enemy resistances to actually land the effect in the first place.
  • Her passive skill can only trigger once per turn. Even if she defeats more than one enemy in a single turn, only one stack of this passive will apply. However, 2x of the Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait will double the potency of this single stack, effectively capping it in one go.

  • As someone with 4 Skill Power, 2 Crit Damage Izana, and a currently Rank 4 Promise of a Return, would you Advise switching one of these traits to an EDBA? If so, Which one? It’s probably easiest to Try and swap either the CritDamage on my Weapon (the Fish) or one of my Skill Powers on my Memory Bracelet (2x Skill Power).

I have a SSR SP + Crit 5/5 Silver Thread Armor, so that one is probably staying!

    Thanks in advance <3

    • I would advice you to keep it as is for now. Combining all 3 traits is a bad idea in general. If you have a gear piece with 2x skill power, I’d use a 5x skill power 1x critical damage combo and keep your memoria. This is right now your strongest combo. Using 2x critical damage traits on top of the memoria and on top of her own buffs will result in a big imbalance of damage modifiers so I strongly advice against using 2 of these traits. but swapping 1 of them for a skill power will solve it.
Do not combine all 3 traits. 4x Skill Power, 1x Crit Damage and 1x EDBA is bad.

In the future, you can swap the last one for an EDBA trait without urgency. This will let her take full advantage of her memoria and stack all her buffs in 1 cast. Until then, 5x spu and 1x Crit Dmg is ok to have.

      So, to summarize:

      – 4x SPU 2x CDMG = Not great but it’s ok for now
      – 4x SPU 1x CDMG 1x EDBA = Bad.
      – 5x SPU 1x CDMG = Good
      – 5x SPU 1x EDBA = Great
      – 3x BSPU 2x SPU 1x EDBA = Best
