Lydie is fairly slow among characters in the Supporter role. This makes her one of the fittest candidates to use one of the highest buff oriented speed memorias in the roster like It’s Time to Study! or The True Feelings You Can’t See. With the former being arguably much easier to acquire, rank up and get a benefit from, the latter provides a significantly bigger boost.
Slower alternatives are still usable nonetheless, especially when assisting allies slower than her. These options include include the traditional A Future Worth Fighting For, which offers a strong critical damage boost to all allies, and Our Masterpiece, which swaps the bonus to skill damage instead resulting in similar relative gains.
A free but slow alternative to all these is To the Academy of Dreams!, with the slowest Speed stat of the bunch and the weakest relative effect too, but this has the potential to be stronger if your other options are not highly ranked.
Lastly, Dress-Up Outing! is a valid choice affecting all her innate buffs, but this memoria is normally better saved for other stat buffing allies instead.
Angel Staff
While equipped to a Supporter, after using a skill, boosts all allies’ critical damage by 4 ~ 5% for 1 turn.
One of the most versatile weapons in the game, this weapon provides an extra additional buff to her kit to balance out her high skill damage buffs. While not necessarily stronger than similar bonuses from other weapons, critical damage is currently normally a more desirable buff to provide to allies via item effects to balance out the much more common sources of skill damage across teams. However…
Astra Skoúpa
While equipped to a Supporter, after using a skill, boosts all allies’ Bolt damage by 4 ~ 5% for 1 turn.
…this weapon can be the exception to that rule. Lydie excels at assisting Bolt characters like Izana: Return of the Knight and Valeria: Radiant Summer, both of which have extremely high critical damage values. In these cases, Astra Skoúpa actually could be stronger.
Steel Staff
While equipped to a Supporter, boosts potency of buff effects given by 7 ~ 10%.
If Lydie is going to be dead during the fight, this is a good alternative to use, passively boosting her passive skill and memoria/gear buffs given permanently, without needing to act.
Phantom Armor Schwarz
While equipped to a Supporter with Bolt affinity, boosts potency of buff effects given by 13 ~ 18%.
Massive boost to all her buffs, including passive and Skill 2. It will boost all buffs given by her, including memoria and gear effects too.
Crimson Leather Armor
While equipped to a Supporter with Bolt affinity, after using a skill, boosts all allies’ skill damage by 2 ~ 3% for 1 turn.
This armor will apply a small skill damage boost to all allies every time she acts. This makes the effect stackable, especially when assisting slower allies. While small, it can be boosted by Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait so it is not as weak as it looks.
Yukata of Warmth
While equipped to a Supporter, boosts all allies’ magic attack skill damage by 2 ~ 3%.
This armor adds a permanent passive boost to the magic skill damage of all allies. While small, it can be boosted by Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait so it is not as much weaker. It’s an event exclusive recipe, but it is outclassed by Phantom Armor Schwarz regardless.
Diligence Robe
While equipped to a Supporter with Bolt affinity, after using a skill, restores all allies’ HP by 1 ~ 2%.
This armor is exclusive to support characters like Resna: Awakened Future. It adds an extra healing tick when acting, which in return has a high chance of drastically boosting Resna’s damage. It also works with other characters, but in a much lower measure so there is no other use for this piece for now.
Carefree Swimsuit
While equipped to a Supporter, boosts potency of buff effects given by 7 ~ 10%.
Drastic downgrade to Phantom Armor Schwarz, but easier and cheaper to craft.
Skuller Coat
Boosts potency of buff effects given by 6 ~ 8%.
Even more of a downgrade to Phantom Armor Schwarz, but even easier and cheaper to craft. Unlocked very early so it’s ideal for beginners.
Spirit Belt
While equipped to a Supporter with Bolt affinity, boosts all allies’ critical damage by 5 ~ 7%.
The best accessory she can equip. Offers a large passive boost to all allies critical damage, enhanced by the Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait. This effect is permanent and active at all times while she is in the fight, even if she is dead.
This recipe is not locked but it’s gated by the Chapter 14 of main story progression so it’s not quite as accessible for newer players.
Element Guard
While equipped to a Supporter with Bolt affinity, boosts potency of buff effects given by 11 ~ 15%.
Decent alternative but much less desirable compared to Spirit Belt. It is unlocked in chapter 6 of the main story, so quite a lot earlier but unfortunately it belongs to the Extra category of recipes making it very hard to synthesize as SSR rarity.
Main Traits
- Enhanced Damage Buff [A] is her most important trait when assisting attackers. All her skill damage from passive, Skill 2 and Burst will be enhanced noticeably.
Always look to have these traits at rank V, as even a rank IV is a massive loss. - The All Recovery Boost will drastically boost her healing power, but it’s honestly not worth chasing this at max rank. 2x or 3x of these at Rank II or III will be more than enough in most situations. Anything else is luxury.
Situational Traits
Her second trait slot is actually not that important for her performance. She can work very well at a fundamental level with just her main traits, but:
- The Recovery Boost trait is a worse version of All Recovery Boost for her, which is frankly still fairly ok. If you get this trait, it’s completely fine to keep it.
- Lydie’s Skill 1 is capped at a max 18%, with each casting of the skill giving 9% at a base level. When paired with at least 2x V rank Enhanced Damage Buff [A] traits, this buff will automatically be capped. The skill damage buff part of it lasts permanently, even if she dies, which makes it the most optimal way to open the fight in most circumstances.
- Aside from extra healing ticks for special cases, there is no need to cast Skill 1 on the same ally more than once so, if you need to use this skill for timeline manipulation, it’s fine to spread the effect among different allies.
- Lydie is the owner of the only non-disruptive Skill 1 in the entire game, a feat that has plenty of hidden boons. She can generate a lot of free turns for herself to generate item gauge or reposition ally panels in multiple ways, all without removing any enemy debuffs. This makes her a solid candidate to use the Feathers Fly on a Festive Day memoria in situations like these.
- Her Skill 2 is a basic healing plus buffing combo, with moderate potencies on both. Despite being an old character, this skill still holds well due to its power, simplicity and easiness to use.
- Her Burst Skill on the other hand is quite hard to use effectively. With the right gear and traits, it can buff more than 300% skill damage on a single cast, but only on the character acting immediately after her in the timeline. This is hard to accomplish considering the situations where 2 Burst panels exist back to back are extremely rare, and the most realistic way of achieving it is with burst generators like Rorona: Joyful Leader.
On top of that, with a disruptive attack on all targets, it’s easy to remove important buffs from enemies with it that you’d rather preserve for a more impactful hit. Because of these reasons, this Burst is nowadays commonly skipped unless the perfect situation is presented. - The 30% skill damage from her passive only works on characters with Bolt affinity. This, of course, makes her incredibly strong when playing with these but it’s not restricted to only that.
- Her healing is average but often sufficient to sustain a team against less aggressive enemies.
- Her synthesis gift is now more relevant than ever. With a blue color on the right side she is now the premiere recipe starter for Rorona: Falling Snow, who is currently the only All Recovery Boost crafter that can use the powerful Academy Symbolic Tree material, one of the strongest possible synthesis combos for an innumerable amount of supporter gears.
In addition to that, she is herself the only All Recovery Boost crafter (when enabled by Flocke: Angel of Rose) who can link to the Reed Fish material, another staple combo of synthesis for a specific type of supporters, and with Ayesha: MARIA of Dusk, who can then link to the Red Hot Crystal material to create gear for Defenders.
