The Promise of a Return memoria is Marie’s ultimate memoria. With the highest M.Atk stat and up to a ridiculous 100% critical damage this is the strongest damage boost she can get. Just keep in mind this memoria will drastically lower her Speed stat making her even slower than she already is. An alternative to deal with this issue is Dance into the New Year, with slightly lower M.Atk and critical damage, but higher Speed. Any of these memorias, at a high enough rank (usually rank 4+) will enable Marie to use Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait in her gear for great results.
Skill damage alternatives include Smiles Brighter than the Sun, a memoria that only works against enemies weak to Ice which Marie cannot create for herself, effectively forcing her to play exclusively against these enemies or rely on teammates. Starbirth Festival Night and Endless Discoveries on the other hand are both effectively identical on Marie and have no conditions attached but provides a slightly smaller bonus. Additionally, the Time Just for Two memoria provides the exact same bonus than the previous two, requiring however for Marie to be over a certain amount of HP, but tends to be much easier to rank up.
Using any of these these will most likely require you to add 2x Critical Damage Up traits to her gear to compensate.
For starters or players with no access to anything of the above, always prioritize equipping a 31.25% M.Atk memoria regardless of its effect. If you still don’t have any of these, the SR rarity Following in Your Footsteps memoria is a great starting option. with moderately high M.Atk and a small boost to magic skill damage.

Crystal Rod
While equipped to an Attacker, boosts potency of buff effects received by 11 ~ 15%.
Despite having a lower base M.Atk stat than other weapons, the sheer amount of extra buffs you can gain from all team members, battle items and all effects combined thanks to its effect will vastly outperform them.
Regardless, always consider what team you are playing, what battle items you are using and how much you are actually getting from this increase. If you are not playing around buffs, then the Tome of Answers: Ice could be better.

Tome of Answers: Ice
While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts critical damage by 20 ~ 28%.
Big boost to M.Atk and critical damage. This weapon is immensely strong, but now slightly outclassed by Crystal Rod in almost every scenario. If you don’t have access to it though, this is your weapon.

Sunshine Fishing Rod
While equipped to a character with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage by 12 ~ 17% when attacking a weakness.
Decent item with a good boost to skill damage but only when attacking enemies weak to Ice. Marie cannot create this weakness for herself, so she will rely on teammates to do so, or use this exclusively in these types of fights.
Outclassed by items above but usable weapon.

Cold Hammer
While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, after using a skill, boosts own M. ATK by 2 ~ 3% for 2 turns and boosts own M. DEF by 2 ~ 3% for 2 attacks.
Unlocked relatively early in the game, this ramp up effect is intended to be weak at the start and become strong as the fight progress, making the user hit harder and become bulkier against magic attacks.

Silver Thread Armor
Boosts potency of buff effects received by 9 ~ 12%.
Ice affinity does not have an Ice exclusive buff potency armor (at least for now) so the next best thing to use is this. Despite the reduced value, it’s still much stronger than any direct effect she can get from other options, all things considered.

Strife Shirt
While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage by 5 ~ 6% and critical damage by 9 ~ 12%.
It’s rare that an armor (or any piece) provides both types of boosts. This armor is really strong for how cheap it is to make, and something to consider if that elusive Silver Thread Armor doesn’t happen.

Daylight
While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, after using a skill, boosts own M. ATK by 5 ~ 6% for 2 turns.
Stat boosts are much stronger than skill damage or critical boosts, but they have fallen slightly out of favor because of buff potency pieces. This is still a solid piece of gear, and can be unlocked early in the game.

Origin Necklace – Ice
While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts burst skill damage by 17 ~ 25%.
The biggest boost Marie can get, but only for her Burst Skill. With this skill being her strongest source of damage, this is ideal but it needs proper panel placement.

Sunshine Sandals
While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage of attacks that target all enemies by 11 ~ 16%.
Unconditional and powerful boost affecting both her main skills. This is generally the most preferred item to craft and use for an instantaneous skill damage increase in all situations. Event locked, but very cheap to craft.

Fancy Ring
While equipped to an Attacker with 70% or higher HP, after attacking, boosts own skill damage by 11 ~ 16% for 1 turn.
Strong choice for Marie affecting both her main skills, but with an HP condition attached. It’s an extra category recipe too, so it’s hard to make.

Ambrosia Garland
While equipped to a character with Ice affinity, after attacking, boosts own magic attack skill damage by 3 ~ 4%. (MAX 15 ~ 20%)
Designed for longer fights this item has the potential to outperform others, but requires ramp up.
It underperforms when playing with the Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait since the cap will stop this item unlike other non capped item effect.

Orphic Ring: Ice
While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage by 9 ~ 12%.
Good budget alternative for beginners. This item is strong enough to carry you early and mid game. It’s cheap and easy to unlock too.
Main Traits
- Burst Skill is Marie’s strongest and primary source of damage so matching that with Burst Skill Power Up trait will result in the highest output. This trait can be matched with many powerful secondary traits.
- Skill Power Up and All-Target Attack Power Up traits offer essentially the same bonus effect since both her main skills are AoE. It will not make any difference which one you get between these 2.
- Ideally you should get at at least 4 of these traits across her 6 trait slots, for a total of 100% Skill Power. Getting 120% from 4x Burst Skill Power Up traits is ideal.

Situational Traits
- Her second trait slot can include additional Skill Power Up traits or ideally some of the next ones:
- The Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait is ONLY good if you have access to a high ranked critical damage memoria like Promise of a Return or Dance into the New Year. 2x of this trait will double the critical damage given by this memoria and the skill damage buffs given by her own skills and passives and any buff from gear she has. If you don’t have this memoria or not at a high enough rank, this trait is not worth using.
- Critical Damage Up is the most basic secondary trait to build. It works great in any conditions and doesn’t require much min maxing or thought. You only want a maximum of 2x of these, but never mix it with Enhanced Damage Buff [A].
- Ice Damage Boost and Magic Damage Boost are ok traits to have early and mid game, but they are much weaker compared to anything above so do not over invest in these and simply use them as stepping stones to reach better traits later on.
- Marie is a pure damage dealer with a lot of self buffing capabilities. Her damage spikes hard against stunned enemies, and is just about average when they are not, so building a team around this is ideal.
- She can assist her ally breakers by increasing the stun damage all enemies take, which is a very unique feat. This makes powerful breakers like Lila: Jet Black Bodyguard much stronger and can be the defining factor to one shot or two shot bosses with very large stun gauges.
- For all these reasons, she is not exactly a character fitting for hyper fast clears. She excels in sweeping waves of enemies in her 2nd or 3rd action, while giving time to her team to prepare the scene.
- She deals only AoE damage so she can be highly disruptive and not recommended in teams that rely on stacking debuffs.
- The Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait (up to 2x of them) is highly recommended on her if you have a matching memoria like Promise of a Return or Dance into the New Year. It will not only boost the memoria effect but also her own self buffs, passive effect, gear effects and immediately cap her burst skill buff which triggers before the damage itself meaning she will always get the full benefit of it even in her first use.
- Put in simpler terms, she plays very similarly to Logy: Alchemist of Dusk, but for magical teams. If you liked playing him or you like the playstyle you will love Marie. Her teams are built and work almost the same way, and we all know how strong Logy can be. Marie has higher potencies than him and better buffs too, while having the same conditions to work at her best.
- She kept her Academy tag, which means she can also be used alongside Elie: Cheesecake Connoisseur to gain a large boost to M.Atk and Initiative effect, but she can now also get it from allies like Valeria: Awakened Past, which also work very well with her despite not matching affinities.
- She can cleanse herself from all negative effects with a single use of her Skill 1. This works great to setup stronger Bursts in her 2nd or 3rd turn, while getting rid of annoying effects in the process.
- She is not great in Tournament.

Score shown is only applicable for General Content
As strong as Marie can be, her kit does not add anything too unique to Ice teams or the roster as a whole. Her extra stun damage debuff could be a great tool in the future, but there is currently no content that demands it.
More specifically, she clashes against Ryza: Sunlit Beach for the same role and responsibility, with Marie doing more with her Burst and Ryza doing more with her Skill 2. This makes Marie also less attractive for those looking to build a more plug & play team that doesn’t need much setup.
Overall a strong character, but only an attractive pick for players lacking Ice alternatives.
