The Promise of a Return memoria is her strongest memoria. With the highest M.Atk stat and up to a ridiculous 100% critical damage, if you can get your hands on this beauty, you are set. Just keep in mind this memoria will drastically lower her Speed stat, which most often than not is a good thing on Attackers, especially in Roman’s Tournament. An alternative to deal with this issue is Core of Companionship, with slightly lower M.Atk and critical damage, but higher Speed. Any of these memorias, at a high enough rank (usually rank 4+) will enable Resna to use Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait in her gear, but Resna doesn’t have any self buff in her kit compared to other attackers so this interaction actually has less value for her.
Unsurprisingly, the Don’t Underestimate Me! memoria has the potential to be Resna’s strongest skill damage option thanks to the two heal ticks that can proc at the end of each turn possibly triggering her passive twice, for up to 100% extra skill damage before enhancements. This vastly outclasses any skill damage based memoria effect, has the same 31.25% M.Atk stat and works with just a rank I memoria!. The catch is that this will probably need you to equip some Critical Damage Up traits in your gear.
Among the newest additions, Happy Birthday! is another good skill damage based memoria for Fire affinity, with the sole condition of hitting a weakness.
Chances are, if you are a new player or have nothing to use but Resna, you won’t have any of the abovementioned options. More budget alternatives include the The Changing Scenery and A Time Just for Two memorias, which are obtainable in the regular FES pool from the start of the game, and Endless Discoveries which will not need any special conditions to activate. These memorias are strong and highly functional, but will require to build Critical Damage Up traits on her gear to compensate later on in the mid game.
For starters or players with no access to anything of the above, always prioritize equipping a 31.25% M.Atk memoria regardless of its effect. If you still don’t have any of these, the SR rarity Following in Your Footsteps memoria is a great starting option. with moderately high M.Atk and a small boost to magic skill damage.
Crystal Rod
While equipped to an Attacker, boosts potency of buff effects received by 11 ~ 15%.
Despite having a lower base M.Atk stat than other weapons, the sheer amount of extra buff values you can gain from all team members, battle items and especially her own passive combined, will vastly outperform higher M.Atk alternatives.
Regardless, always consider what team you are playing, what battle items you are using and how much you are actually getting from this increase.
Tome of Answers: Fire
While equipped to an Attacker with Fire affinity, boosts single-target attack skill damage by 15 ~ 21%.
Big boost to M.Atk and skill damage affecting only Resna’s Skill 1 and 2. This weapon is very strong, but now outclassed by Crystal Rod in almost every scenario. If you don’t have access to it though, this is your weapon.
Tourbillon
While equipped to an Attacker, at the start of battle, restores own HP at the start of the turn by 4 ~ 5% for 5 turns.
This weapon doesn’t provide any offensive bonuses but has up to 5 guaranteed healing ticks on Resna, once per turn. If unassisted, this effect can help Resna gain enough Skill Charges by herself to transform on her second turn, and gain powerful buffs from there onwards. A single proc per turn will outclass any regular weapon effect, except of course the one from Crystal Rod. In general this weapon is preferred to be used in settings where Resna does not have regular access to healing or teammates who can help her transform quickly.
Elemental Breath – Fire
While equipped to an Attacker with Fire affinity, boosts skill damage by 9 ~ 12%.
This is a basic but very strong weapon unlocked fairly early in the game. It has no conditions other than being a Fire Attacker, therefore it can be shared later on with similar characters. The effect is moderate and the weapon has a standard 20 ~ 45 M.Atk, so it’s really just an entry level piece that holds well into middle stages of the game and works perfect to clear Fire Tower.
Wanderer’s Clothes
While equipped to an Attacker with Fire affinity, boosts potency of received buff effects by 16 ~ 23%.
Hands down the strongest piece of gear she can wear. This armor will not only boost her own self buffs but everything she receives, from battle item buffs, memoria effects, other gear effects, party members’ buffs, her own passive, everything. It’s also quite cheap to make and unlocked relatively early in the game, so there is no reason not to use one.
Silver Thread Armor
Boosts potency of buff effects received by 9 ~ 12%.
A direct downgrade from Wanderer’s Clothes. It’s much weaker and much, much harder to craft because it’s an Extra category recipe. Aside from that one armor, it’s still stronger than anything else she can equip, which is a testament to the power of increases to buffs received.
If you happened to have this armor from a different character and don’t have a Wanderer’s Clothes, use it.
Journey Raiment
After using skill, restores 2 ~ 3% of own HP.
Unlocked very early in the game, when unassisted by other forms of hp recovery from the party, this item can help Resna transform on her second turn by adding an extra healing tick after her first cast. From there, every turn will have a chance to proc her passive buff for the rest of the fight which is actually not bad at all in the early and mid game.
Flame Hairpin
While equipped to an Attacker with Fire affinity, boosts potency of received buff effects by 16 ~ 23%.
This accessory works exactly as the Wanderer’s Clothes, with all its conditions and pros. For the same reasons too, this is the strongest piece of equipment she can wear in this gear slot.
Feather Pin
While equipped to an Attacker with Fire affinity, after using a skill, restores own HP by 5 ~ 6%.
Unlocked very early in the game, when unassisted by other forms of hp recovery from the party, this item can help Resna transform on her second turn by adding an extra healing tick after her first cast. From there, every turn will have a chance to proc her passive buff for the rest of the fight which is actually not bad at all in the early and mid game, and helps with her survivability too.
Godspeed Boots
While equipped to an Attacker, after using a skill, restores 3 ~ 4% of own HP.
Exactly the same as Feather Pin, but slightly worse. Pick the one that’s more accessible for you as the difference in performance is marginal.
Main Traits
- Skill Power Up is Resna’s main trait, affecting all her skills equally. She is one of the only characters that actually wants to have 3x of these instead of 4, to make space for:
- Enhance Damage Buff [A]. Yes, 3x of these too. It will massively boost the power of her own passive effects triggering, turning each proc into a more than 120% buff (before gear effect enhancements). Beyond ridiculous.
Situational Traits
- Everything else is drastically worse and should ideally never be used, but if you must:
- Critical Damage Up is the most basic and most functional trait to build after the main two but almost always a damage loss.
- The Burst Skill Power Up trait is a stronger version of Skill Power Up that only affects her Burst Skill. There are situations where you only want to use this skill for maximum damage, but they require a lot of setup. You can currently combine this trait with Enhanced Damage Buff [A] for maximum burst output, but always remember this combination will tank the damage of her other skills. Only use when you know you will be using her Burst Skill only.
- Fire Damage Boost and Magic Damage Boost are ok traits to have early and mid game, but they are much weaker compared to anything above so do not over invest in these and simply use them as stepping stones to reach better traits later on.
- Nothing in the current game comes even close to the sheer absurdity of this kit. Her passive skill alone is enough to put any other character to shame, potentially stacking her skill damage way in the thousands.
- Any form of healing received will have an equal chance to add a new source of this buff for her next or current turn. From her own gear effects, regen effects, battle items or ally gear/skill effects, it’s not super rare for Resna to stack this more than 7 or 8 times per turn.
- Battle items like Cocktail Leb will trigger a healing tick immediately upon use, and add a stacking regen effect for 2 turns. Three of these items can be used at once and it can be used 3 times per fight too, stacking an absolutely massive amount of buffs on her after each use.
- She has an absurdly high base M.Atk and also massive M.Atk self buffs, because why not.
- She can also debuff the enemy’s Fire Resistance before her own attacks, for up to 5 attacks, because why not.
- Boost panel effects are also 1.5x stronger than normal on her, because why not.
- She can feed Burst panels to follow up allies after her own Burst, because why not.
- She doesn’t have a way to start the battle with Skill Charges active, but they can be easily gained with regular gear effects, battle items or simply with the assistance of allies, helping her transform on her very first turn, because why not.
- She is kind of slow, which cannot even be considered a weakness anymore. It’s not. It plays in her favor.
- She dominates 6 out of 7 affinities in Roman’s Tournament. Perhaps even all 7.
- She has Penetration on her Burst, because why not, but it will almost always go unnoticed due to sheer power of her kit anyway.
- Even her untransformed version is stronger than some other existing characters, because… you get the idea.
- Her Leader Skill is mediocre, so there is that. Wow.
