The Promise of a Return memoria is Resna’s strongest choice. With the highest M.Atk stat and up to a ridiculous 100% critical damage this is highly desirable. Just keep in mind this memoria will drastically lower her Speed stat, which most often than not is a good thing on Attackers. An alternative to deal with this issue is Dance into the New Year, with slightly lower M.Atk and critical damage, but higher Speed. Any of these memorias, at a high enough rank (usually rank 4+) will enable Resna to use Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait in her gear. More of this to be explained in the trait section.

Skill damage alternatives include Smiles Brighter than the Sun, a memoria that only works against enemies weak to Ice, and Starbirth Festival Night or Endless Discoveries which are effectively identical on Resna and have no conditions attached. Additionally, the Time Just for Two memoria provides the exact same bonus than the previous two, requiring however for Resna to be over a certain amount of HP, but tends to be much easier to rank up and get access to. Using any of these these will most likely require you to add 2x Critical Damage Up traits to hear gear to compensate.

For starters or players with no access to anything of the above, always prioritize equipping a 31.25% M.Atk memoria regardless of its effect. If you still don’t have any of these, the SR rarity Following in Your Footsteps memoria is a great starting option. with moderately high M.Atk and a small boost to magic skill damage.

Crystal Rod

While equipped to an Attacker, boosts potency of buff effects received by 11 ~ 15%.

Despite having a lower base M.Atk stat than other weapons, the sheer amount of extra buffs you can gain from all team members, battle items and all effects combined thanks to its effect will vastly outperform them.
Regardless, always consider what team you are playing, what battle items you are using and how much you are actually getting from this increase. If you are not playing around buffs, then the Tome of Answers: Ice could be better.

Tome of Answers: Ice

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts critical damage by 20 ~ 28%.

Big boost to M.Atk and critical damage affecting all of Resna’s skill. This weapon is immensely strong, but now slightly outclassed by Crystal Rod in almost every scenario. If you don’t have access to it though, this is your weapon.

Sunshine Fishing Rod

While equipped to a character with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage by 12 ~ 17% when attacking a weakness.

Decent item with a good boost to skill damage but only when attacking enemies weak to Ice. Resna has no means of creating this with her own kit, but it can do it by using battle items with enough Ice Curse trait total. A minimum of -25% Ice Resistance is required for an enemy to be considered “weak”.

Stylish Broom

Boosts potency of buff effects given by 6 ~ 8%.

Resna can also be played as a buffer ally or co-damage dealer, significantly boosting the power of her team-wide critical damage buffs from her Skill 1 and passive. This is the only weapon she can use for such purpose.

Ice Mirror Bow

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, after using a skill, boosts target’s critical damage received by 6 ~ 9% for 2 attacks.

She can also act a debuffer, boosting the critical damage received by the targets of her skills. This is effectively identical to a regular critical damage buff, and can be stacked up to twice.
Her Burst Skill will apply this effect over all enemies.

Water God’s Spear

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage by 14%. Boosts all “Kurken Island” allies’ M. ATK by 5%.

This weapon is only obtainable during the Atelier Summer Event 2024. It has fixed stats, rarity and traits. The secondary trait is worthless on Resna, unfortunately, so this weapon is mostly an item that she can use if you don’t have anything else. It will be decent.

Silver Thread Armor

Boosts potency of buff effects received by 9 ~ 12%.

Ice affinity does not have an Ice exclusive buff potency armor (at least for now) so the next best thing to use is this. Despite the reduced value, it’s still much stronger than any direct effect she can get from other options, all things considered.

Strife Shirt

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage by 5 ~ 6% and critical damage by 9 ~ 12%.

It’s rare that an armor (or any piece) provides both types of boosts. This armor is really strong for how cheap it is to make, and something to consider if that elusive Silver Thread Armor doesn’t happen.

Skuller Coat

Boosts potency of buff effects given by 6 ~ 8%.

A buffing role alternative. This armor will slightly increase the potency of her critical damage buffs provided to allies (and herself). Recommended for use alongside other buff oriented items.

Frost Armor

While equipped to a character with Ice affinity, after attacking, boosts enemy’s damage received by 4 ~ 5% for 2 attacks.

A debuff oriented armor also intended to be used in a more supportive role. It performs better when used alongside Ice Mirror Bow.
Despite being debuff oriented, the Enhanced Damage Buff [A] is still the main trait for these.

Sunshine Swimsuit

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, after a party member uses a battle item, boosts own skill damage by 17 ~ 24% for 1 turn. Doesn’t Stack.

The bonus provided by this armor is strong but actually not as desirable on Resna due to her reliance on her Burst Skill to do real damage which makes battle items a bit more nuanced usage.

Daylight

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, after using a skill, boosts own M. ATK by 5 ~ 6% for 2 turns.

Stat boosts are much stronger than skill damage or critical boosts, but they have fallen slightly out of favor because of buff potency pieces. This is still a solid piece of gear, and can be unlocked early in the game.

Origin Necklace – Ice

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts burst skill damage by 17 ~ 25%.

The biggest boost Resna can get, and for her main damaging skill. If planning around this skill alone (you should), this item is a no brainer.

Sunshine Sandals

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage of attacks that target all enemies by 11 ~ 16%.

A direct downgrade to Origin Necklace – Ice. It is good, and cheaper to make in exchange but the bonus difference is substantial.
It only affects her Burst Skill.

Ambrosia Garland

While equipped to a character with Ice affinity, after attacking, boosts own skill damage by 3 ~ 4%. (MAX 15 ~ 20%)

Designed for longer fight this item has the potential to outperform the Sunshine Sandals, but requires ramp up. The Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait will reduce the number of casts required to cap this bonus significantly, making it much better with that setup in mind.
It is significantly worse than Origin Necklace – Ice, however.

Orphic Ring: Ice

While equipped to an Attacker with Ice affinity, boosts skill damage by 9 ~ 12%.

Good budget alternative for beginners. This item is strong enough to carry you early and mid game. It’s cheap and easy to unlock too.

Main Traits

  • The Burst Skill Power Up trait is a stronger version of Skill Power Up that only affects her Burst Skill. In most situations this is the only want to use this skill for maximum damage so this trait is ideal to focus on. You can currently combine this trait with Enhanced Damage Buff [A] for maximum burst output, but always remember this combination will tank the damage of her other skills. You can also combine regular Skill Power Up with Burst Skill Power Up in detriment of critical damage, which will result in a weaker output but is still quite functional.
  • Skill Power Up and All-Target Attack Power Up traits are essentially the same for Resna when it comes to using her Burst Skill. Skill Power Up, however, is much easier to build alongside secondary traits or with itself in any case and it affects her Skill 2 too, so prioritize this trait if possible.
  • Ideally you should get at at least 4x of any combination of these these traits across her 6 trait slots, for a total of 100%-110% Skill Power. Going above this will reduce the effective value of the trait, but going below will be a much more drastic drop in damage. In general, you almost never want less than 100%.

Situational Traits

  • Her second trait slot can include additional Skill Power Up traits or ideally some of the next ones:
  • The Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait is ONLY good if you have access to a high ranked critical damage memoria like Promise of a Return or Dance into the New Year. 2x of this trait will double the critical damage given by this memoria and the critical damage buffs given by her passive skill and Skill 1, and any buff from gear she has, like the Origin Necklace – Ice. If you don’t have this memoria or not at a high enough rank, this trait is not worth using.
  • Critical Damage Up is the most basic secondary trait to build. It works great in any conditions and doesn’t require much min maxing or thought. You only want a maximum of 2x of these.
  • Ice Damage Boost and Magic Damage Boost are ok traits to have early and mid game, but they are much weaker compared to anything above so do not over invest in these and simply use them as stepping stones to reach better traits later on.
  • Resna is a character that can be played both as a main damage dealer or as a buffer.
  • The critical damage from her Skill 1 is capped, but the one from her passive skill is not. Both are affected by the Enhanced Damage Buff [A] trait when used a supporting character, providing quite a large and permanent buff to allies that will remain active even if she dies.
  • Her Burst Skill is a guaranteed critical hit no matter what. The 100% critical rate is not categorized as a buff so it cannot be affected by reductions or increases to buff potencies given or received.
  • The Brittle status effect can be resisted or even nulled by targets via immunity. She does not need this effect for her kit to work in any capacity and this is more of a supporting tool to allow others to deal critical hits with follow up attacks.
  • The Brittle applied by her Skill 2 effectively lasts for only 1 attack, since the skill itself will consume the first stack. This is not the case for her Burst Skill, and any Brittle applied with this will last for the 2 next attacks.
  • Her Synthesis Gift is one of the most sought after ones. With a Red colored right side, she can link to the powerful Sharp Pepper and Summertime Mushroom materials, both capable of passing incredibly useful traits to damage dealer gear. She will link to Totori: Snow Adventurer  in both ways, being enabled by her and also enabling her back in order to finish off crafts with strong purple materials like Academy Uni.
