Very traditional supporter memorias all around, with direct critical damage and skill damage options, and even buff potency memorias to enhance her M.Atk buffs. Because of her high base Speed stat, she is a candidate to carry lower Speed memorias like A Future Worth Fighting For and Our Masterpiece without compromising many of her actions, but speedy memorias like It’s Time to Study! are much more desired options for her in Roman’s Tournament (more about this in the Character Overview section). On the other hand, the The True Feelings You Can’t See and similar memorias such as To the Academy of Dreams! are less favorable this time around simply by virtue of the kind of teams she excels with preferring the use regular skills over burst skills, primarily Resna: Awakened Future.
Interestingly, she can use buff potency memorias with great proficiency, Wishes of Healing having a slight edge over Dress-Up Outing! specifically on her, but both memorias accomplishing the same goal. The problem lies on how contested this memoria is with another great ally of hers that will be present in essentially all her teams, Heidi: Merciful Bride, the latter making a better use of it. With this in mind, is generally preferred to equip Sophie with one of the earlier mentioned memorias instead.
Angel Staff
While equipped to a Supporter, after using a skill, boosts all allies’ critical damage by 4 ~ 5% for 1 turn.
It might not look like it, but this Sophie’s most effective weapon in a lot of situations mainly thanks of her high Speed and Skill 1 allowing her to take a lot of turns in between damage dealer’s turns. In many of these fights she will take these fast-acting, semi-healer role, and this staff will be ideal for them.
This bonus is affected by Enhanced Damage Buff [A].
Sling of Happiness
While equipped to a character with Fire affinity, boosts potency of buff effects given by 9 ~ 12%.
Very strong item for stat buffing reasons, especially the M.Atk buffs on her Skill 2 and Burst, but believe it or not this is always or not necessarily her best weapon. As mentioned, there are instances where this could be better, but generally speaking Angel Staff is preferred.
Blessed Staff
While equipped to a Supporter, after using a skill, boosts all allies’ Fire damage by 5 ~ 6% for 1 turn.
When supporting a Fire damage dealer, this weapon is quite strong and relatively accessible, just locked behind floor 10 Fire Tower instead of being event exclusive. That said, despite working like Angel Staff, it is strictly worse than it.
Valkyrie Mail
While equipped to a Supporter, boosts potency of buff effects given by 9 ~ 12%.
Even better buffs! What else there is to say. This bonus will affect all the buffs, passives and gear effects she has equipped, including stat buffs. Best in slot item.
Carefree Swimsuit
While equipped to a Supporter, boosts potency of buff effects given by 7 ~ 10%.
Better buffs! but outclassed by Valkyrie Mail.
Skuller Coat
Boosts potency of buff effects given by 6 ~ 8%.
Slightly better buffs!, but outclassed by both options above. Still one of the most serviceable items to get early in the game. This armor can be used by any character and it will last a long time, until you unlock any of the others.
Ring of Happiness
While equipped to a Supporter with Fire affinity, boosts all allies’ M. ATK by 5 ~ 6%.
This item provides a small passive boost to M.Atk stat of all allies, and it’s usually the best offensive option for general content. That said, it only provides 8 Speed, which can clash with some strategies in Roman’s Tournament that need more.
Scinti Talon
While equipped to a Supporter with Fire affinity, boosts HP recovery given by 5 ~ 7%.
For strategies like the above mentioned, this is your item. +12 Speed granted, with a boost to all healing done, which Sophie’s Skill 1 will take fair advantage of.
Carefree Goggles
While equipped to a Supporter, boosts all allies’ magic attack skill damage by 2 ~ 3%.
For the opposite scenario, if you need Sophie to be slower, this item provides a small effect boosted by Enhanced Damage Buff [A], and no Speed stat at all. It’s weaker than Ring of Happiness, but the low Speed can be of use in some strategies.
Main Traits
- Enhanced Damage Buff [A] is her most important trait when assisting attackers. This will affect her second passive skill, her Skill 1 buff, the Fire damage portion of her Skill 2 buff and any buffing item (excluding stat buffs) and memoria she has equipped. It will also reduce the number of Burst cast needed to cap the weakness skill damage buff from 2 to just 1.
Always look to have these 3x of these traits at rank V, as even a rank IV is a massive loss. - All Recovery Boost is highly recommended to have on her as well to close to double the healing done by her Skill 1. Healing by almost a third of each ally’s maximum HP with with a low wait time Skill 1 is incredibly strong and provides great team sustain added on top of its strong skill damage buff and turn rate.
Situational Traits
Her second trait slot is normally very niche, but in case of needing it:
- The All-Target Attack Resistance Up trait will add extra AoE mitigation to protect her. this is not bad when using her in affinity towers that are not Fire.
- The Recovery Boost trait is an strictly worse version of All Recovery Boost for Sophie, but it’s better than nothing and it’s acceptable to have.
- The Recovery Boost [Resolve] version instead is much superior to All Recovery Boost, but this effect will only apply when Sophie or the targets’ of her heals are at 50% of their max HP or below. Against highly aggressive enemies, this is ideal, but this trait is currently impossible to match with Enhanced Damage Buff [A] so it is only suggested for healing based setups.
- Sophie is primarily a buffer for Fire affinity teams, providing Fire exclusive skill damage with both her Skill 2 and passive, and indirect Fire Resistance debuff options. While she can work with other magic affinities, she is not really too strong on them.
- Her secondary role is of a healer, which is quite substantial but not as explosive as healers like Flocke: Angel of Rose. Instead, she heals for lower amounts but much more consistently and often with a low wait time Skill 1, while stacking skill damage buffs at the same time.
- Her Leader Skill is insanely strong but there is no suitable “Justice & Exploration” Fire affinity Attacker right now to take great advantage of it. This is worth keeping an eye on for the future.
- Her Burst Skill provides a very unique buff to allies that increases their skill damage when attacking enemies weak to Fire for the rest of the fight. This is not hard to accomplish with her own Skill 2, battle items like Flame Aqua or other allies’ effects.
- Her Skill 2 will grant a unique effect on a single ally, enabling them to reduce the Fire Resistance of their own targets BEFORE attacking, for 1 attack. The buff that grants this ability can be stacked an indefinite amount of times, but the debuff itself can only reduce the Fire Resistance of targets by a maximum of 50%, or 2 stacks of this effect in normal conditions. This extremely unique effect has several implications:
- When used over an attacking ally, this debuff will be consumed immediately by the same skill that applied it.
- When used over a non attacking ally, such as Klaudia: Fragrant Elegance, they will apply the debuff but will not consume its effect.
- The debuff is affected by increases and reductions to buff potencies given and received. If Sophie has increased potency given, she will give a bigger base buff. If the allied target has increased potency received, the potency of the debuff applied by it will be larger. Both things can interact with each other to give a single ally the full 50% potency in just a single cast.
- The debuff is also affected by increases to potencies of negative effects and by the Enhanced Resistance Down [Fire] trait, but these increases must be on the character applying the debuff, and not on Sophie. Even with over 100% negative effect potency total, this debuff cannot go over 50%.
- Counterattacks done by the target of Sophie’s buff will not apply the debuff and will not consume the buff.
- AoE attacks cast with this effect active, will apply the debuff on all enemies as well.
- Skills that do not target enemies, such as healing or buffing abilities, will not apply any debuff but the buff will still be consumed.
- If Sophie is really fast compared to her target, she can quite easily stack this effect twice on the same ally to achieve the maximum 50% fire resistance reduction without any extra requirements. This is one of the preferred methods of using this effect, making high Speed Sophie a most desired way of building her.
