- Characters in SS tier are highly exceptional characters in their respective roles, playing a centric role in multiple affinities or all of them, or in all their respective magic/physical types. They usually have one or two elements in their kits that they perform better than anybody else in the roster, and are very hard to replace.
- S+ Tier is now separated from regular S tier and groups characters with extremely strong utilities and sometimes just as powerful as characters in SS tier but this time they can be replaced more often than not by characters in this same tier or higher. Extremely safe choices all around both for combat or/and synthesis.
- S Tier corresponds now to the old bottom of the S tier. Filled with strong characters with high damage and strong utilities that can even be the strongest picks in their respective affinities but usually don’t have the versatility to open and perform well in others. Characters here may or may not fill up holes in teams fairly well, if you are lacking any of the options above, but with reduced results.
- A Tier groups up characters that used to be at the top but are now showing their age. They can still perform well in most content they are strong against, but they will need to be paired with more modern tools to really shine. Characters with strong kits but undefined roles are here too, like hybrid Utility Attackers that try to do too many things but excel at nothing, or affinities that are currently in a bad spot in the game. They are functional, but can be easily replaced.
- B Tier encompasses characters with very niche roles or that have been completely outclassed by newer ones that do the same they do, but better. Doesn’t mean they are bad, they are just usually inferior choices to other picks, but can perform their roles well.
- C Tier includes characters with weaker kits that do not scale well, or have many conditions attached to work. They can perform well when geared properly but they tend to be more of a “for fun” choice, or if you really have nothing else. Still quite functional.
- D Tier. Very niche characters for very specific fights only, or in some cases straight up none. Terrible stat spreads, very low Speeds and just unfavorable gimmicks for most of the modern content, but somehow quite good in the rare opportunities the fight caters to their very specific strengths.
- E Tier. Extremely poorly designed kits. The game effectively plays against them either by punishing their conditions or just completely ignoring them. They can work, but with great effort and investment, something you’d prefer using in literally anything else for greater results.
